I think I lost my faith in God?

Catholicism only came into being in the 3rd century A.D. It was started by King Constantine and Rome became it's headquarters. I do not think God is testing your faith. You should enquire about different faiths of Christianity and find one that you feel more comfortable with e.g Anglican.
